Creative media has long been an important part of the BBC experience, and now it seems the BBC is looking to make it even more relevant.
The broadcaster has introduced a new app, Bamboo, which allows users to create and edit digital content for BBC TV, the BBC Radio One website, and other sites.
In an interview with The Verge, the CEO of Bamboo told the publication the app is “a completely new way of managing digital content” and that it will allow users to “create new stories, new episodes of new shows, and to create original content that really resonates with audiences and can be shared.”
The BBC will also be introducing a new “creative portfolio” which will allow people to create new content on BBC TV.
“This new platform will give you the tools and access to the expertise to create content for your audience that you’d normally be unable to,” the BBC CEO said.
“We are building on this idea that you can have all the tools you need to create great content, but with the freedom to do it yourself.”
Bamboo is available on Apple’s App Store and Google Play.
