The Irish Government has announced a merger of the Creative Media Unit with the Department of Communications, Innovation and Arts.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Minister for Communications Pat Rabbitte said that the merger will bring together “a range of digital initiatives to enhance and support the Irish creative economy”.
The new department will include the department of creative industries, digital media, and digital strategy, as well as the Department for Creative Media, Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, and will provide additional digital and digital technology assistance to the department.
The new departments will also bring together a team of researchers and technologists.
This is a complex and challenging environment that requires a wide range of experts to work together to ensure the long-term success of digital content.
The Minister also announced a partnership with the University of Technology, Cork, to work on the development of a digital training framework for the Irish Arts.
The Department of Creative Media said in a statement that the department will provide support to the departments of digital media and digital marketing and to other digital initiatives.
